Get inspired, explore basic crafting techniques and various mediums with bite sized workshops. Expect a 2-hour conceptual and hands-on workshop starting with a discussion about the works of notable artists employing each medium, basic history, and technical fundamentals, with the rest of the workshop centered around making and experimenting.
In order to bridge the gap for those who couldn't otherwise afford art classes or paid events, we reserve 50% of seats in every workshop for those that need free tickets. This week, we’ll be embarking on a two-part journey into the basics of collage, both physical cut + paste and digital. In the first part we’ll learn traditional collage, make 9x9 personal works harvested from a bounty of interesting print media and explore interactions in mark making using different media. You’re encouraged to make whatever calls, or reflect on a guided theme for your collages.
Using extra pieces scanned from last week’s session and a digital library of assets, we’ll learn some basic photoshop skills using digital collage and make a collaborative 11x17” design to be printed in a following Screen Printing series.
